good travel/expatriate medical insurance?

Hey world travellers,

does anyone have any good recommendations for travel/expatriate (long trip) insurance?

I bought my travel insurance from travel cuts last time, and it was pretty shitty. I'd like to find something better.

thanks for any info!

I used Royal Bank when I moved to Texas. It was about $300 for six months, if that helps. I ended up injuring myself while there, and the insurance paid for everything - ambulance ride to the emergency room, xrays and numerous doctor consults while there. Good luck!

This summer, I got my travel medical insurance from the Hosteling International on Mont Royal between St. Laurent and St. Denis. I don't recall the exact company I ended up using (nor did I get hurt, so I couldn't attest to its quality anyway), but their advantage is they deal with a couple of different companies, and are sensible about knowing which companies/plans make sense in which situations. You could go in and at least see what options they have.

Most insurance companies offer competitive rates on par with the travel agent.

TD, Royal are good. Allstate is usually a bit more expensive.

Check out Travel Guard. They have so many options and are really helpful.

Travel Health Insurance

I travel to Latin America a great deal and I always use a company called MultiNational Underwriters www.mnui.com. They are really easy to deal with and have a great online website. Take a look.

Good and suggestive article!

Its true that world travellers must have an insurance for their secured life. It is well known fact that time and tide waits for none so why for you? If you want to make safe your and your children's life you must buy insurance.
